I suppose you could suppose a “word drawing” is a one-off composition. Frequently, though, a series is required to discover a fulfillment of the vision.

For a while now, I've been noticing how snarky phrases often contain the wisdom of enlightenment, if you think about them.
Given a shift in perspective, even a phrase as condemningly dismissive as the classic, “if you’ve seen one you’ve seen ‘em all,” reads with a transcendent, expansive truth.
I guess seeing anyone or anything truly, we glimpse the unfolding, mysterious totality of existence. Afterall, that's how the saying goes.
Undoubtedly, you're familiar with the phenomenon, but if by chance the word mondegreen is new to you (as it was to me), a definition can be found here.
From who knows where, the phrase in today’s post ran through my mind. Reference to the dictionary for confirmation of spelling and further sleuthing found these definitions for synchronous: 1. occurring at the same time; coinciding in time; contemporaneous; simultaneous. 2. going on at the same rate and exactly together; recurring together. 3. (Physics, Elect.) having the same frequency and zero phase difference. Hmm...

Lately (as per the previous post), I have had the delight to be in the company of a young person learning to write. Currently she recognizes all the letters and can accurately depict them. Placing those letters in a word-making arrangement is the approaching horizon.
Watching her practice, provides a reminder that handwriting is drawing. Before written words can convey meaning an image must be constructed. Learning to master handwriting is an early, formative experience of what we might call "realistic drawing." The instructive irony, of course, is that making marks that register as words - words that only exist in the mind and who's communicative meaning is completely dependent on consensus - is about as abstract as it gets.
Today's posted drawing is an example from an ongoing body of work I refer to as "word paintings."
